What is a Caravan Holiday and Why Should You Plan One?

Vacations, holidays, road trips, whatever you want to call them, they’re traditional pastimes for people around the world.

Have you heard about a caravan holiday, though? Depending on where you’re at, you might not have heard the exact terminology, but it’s likely you know the concept.

Well, a caravan holiday is something every couple or family needs to try at least once in a lifetime. The peacefulness and tranquility of it, along with the more spontaneous nature of it, are sure to keep you yearning for another the second you get back home.

What is a Caravan Holiday?

A caravan holiday is just a holiday you take to a great location, but you get there with and stay in, a camper. Depending on the region you’re in, you might be thinking of caravans, camper vans, campers, RVs, or mobile homes. They’re all basically the same thing, though.

When you load up the family in your camper van, hop on the nearest highway to a tranquil place away from the stress of everyday life, and spend a week or so out and about, that’s a caravan holiday.

What Sets a Caravan Holiday Apart?

Besides just living in a camper van for a while, a caravan holiday actually stands out from other holidays in a few ways.

First, it combines two things that everyone loves; you get the joy and uncertainty of a road trip, but the peacefulness and relaxation of a camping trip.

On the way there, you’ll have to adapt to the road and overcome challenges with your family while taking in the sights and getting away from technology and stress for a bit, and once you get to where you’re going, it’s all about sitting back and relaxing instead of worrying about hotel rooms, getting to various attractions on time, and other hassles.

Why Should You Go on a Caravan Holiday?

Caravan holidays offer the benefits we’ve already listed, but the details are where the real joy is.

You’re literally in a driving house. It’s smaller, of course, but you’ll have the basic comforts of home both while you’re on the road and when you get where you’re going. There’s no stopping to use the restroom every time one of the kids suddenly has to go, there’s no listening to complaints about how someone’s uncomfortable or bored, and you can even cook home-cooked meals without having to stop or bring along any special equipment. When you get to your spot, you don’t have to worry about a hotel, either. You have one. Granted, most caravan-friendly parks do charge a nightly fee, but it’s far more affordable than a hotel fee since they don’t have to supply any commodities.

Finally, it’s an intimate experience with your family. You’re not separated into different rooms, encouraged to sit behind a hotel TV during the trip, or running off to do your own things nonstop. You’re simply together, enjoying the trip, and making memories that will last a lifetime.
